According to a new report by Crypto.com, crypto adoption hit new heights in 2022, with the number of crypto owners reaching 425 million by the end of the year. The report, titled “Crypto Market Sizing,” analyzed a combination of on-chain data, survey analysis, and internal data from the company. The research team noted that despite macroeconomic challenges, such as high inflation and ongoing pandemic effects, the number of crypto owners worldwide grew by 39% from 306 million to 425 million during the year.

Bitcoin ownership saw the most significant growth, with the number of bitcoin owners rising by 20% from 183 million in January to 219 million in December. This accounted for 52% of global owners. Ethereum also saw a significant increase in adoption, with the number of ether owners growing by 263% from 24 million in January to 87 million in December. This accounted for 20% of global owners.
